3 Ways to Get New Client Connections

Feb 10, 2026

Hey gang, Rich Scott here with another quick video. Today we're going to talk about the only three ways to get more connections.

The Common Question: How Do I Get More Clients?

Probably one of the most common questions I get asked is: how do I make more connections? How do I get more clients? How do I get more leads?

This comes up over and over again. In professional services, there’s usually a high level of expertise in what you do — but very little training around marketing, building connections, or growing your business. So it makes complete sense that this question is so common.

The good news is there are really only three ways to make more connections. The bad news is… there are really only three ways. So today, we’re going to walk through all three.

Way 1: Seek

Number one is seek. If you’ve clearly defined your ideal client, this is the most common approach people use.

There’s a simple framework to increase your success rate: WHY.

W = Who — Be crystal clear on your ideal client or avatar.

H = How — Decide how you’ll approach them. LinkedIn, networking events, Google, email, phone — choose your channel intentionally.

Y = You — Prepare yourself. How do you show up? What materials or messaging need to be ready before you reach out?

When you’re seeking, always remember: Who, How, and You.

Way 2: Be Sought

The second way is to build a strategy where instead of always chasing clients, they come to you.

There are three key elements to making this happen — the Three A’s.

Authority — Provide real value through content, ideas, or solutions that position you as the expert.

Aware — People need to know you exist. This often means having a strong, findable website and consistent visibility.

Access — You must be reachable. If people can’t easily contact you, you’ll miss opportunities.

When you combine Authority, Awareness, and Access, you dramatically increase the chances of being sought out.

Way 3: Be Introduced

The third way — and often the most powerful — is through introductions.

To improve the quality and frequency of introductions, focus on three things:

  1. Be intentional about building relationships with people who can introduce you to your ideal clients.
  2. Serve them first — don’t just ask for favors.
  3. Create a rhythm for staying connected and consistently adding value.

Strong relationships create strong introductions.

Recap: The Only Three Ways

So let’s quickly recap the only three ways to get more connections.

  1. You seek clients out.
  2. You position yourself as an authority so you are sought out.
  3. You get introduced to ideal clients through strong relationships.

Every strategy for growth fits into one of these three categories.

Closing

In the comments below, which approach feels like the best fit for you?

Are you more naturally a seeker, someone who wants to be sought out, or someone focused on building introductions?

As always, thank you for listening. I’m Richard Scott — until next time.
